At every point in time, we’re newbs to reading a certain genre. While I loved reading thrillers as a kid, once my mental health tanked, due to my abusive marriage, I fell ass first into reality TV binges.

Hours and hours of needless drama.

So much MTV, Bravo, and Lifetime. So many hours I can’t get back. Ugh.

I digress, well fuck.

Anywho, back to the original source material, which is to say, I loved reading thrillers and horror and I’ve recently rekindled that love by cutting back on the reality TV and working on my mental health.

Diving back into the thriller pool was both terrifying and elating because there was SO MUCH to consume. So many good books to ease my FOMO.

Where to start? How not to get overwhelmed, throw up my hands, and go back to my TV remote?

So, as one does, I went to YouTube. Specifically, the magic that is BookTube.

From there, I cobbled together a long list of thriller and horror BookTubers making a mile long list of books that were suited to my specific needs as a newbie reader dipping my toe back into the genre.

I wanted fast paced. Terrifying. Psychological. Twists and Turns. Mysteries. Surprise Endings. Books that kept me firm in my choice to give up 90 Day Fiancé for the sole purpose of reading them.

Here’s what I came up with during my research. Hopefully, my little list saves you hours of anxiety trying to figure out where to start and what to read first in a long line of “Holy shit, these books are gooooood”.

If you still feel inclined to do your own research, awesome! Go forth and binge other thriller lists. The more readers, the merrier. Regardless of what you’re reading, read, read, read. Because books are badass.

I forgot that for awhile. But never again, dear reader, never again! If I do, you have permission to smack me around a little bit.
